OUR SMALL FRONT PORCH MAKEOVER!

First, let's take a look at how our front porch looked when we first moved in.

When brainstorming ideas for a new front porch, we figured the easiest way was for us to cover the steps with treated lumber, so that's exactly what we did!

We added these matte black balusters from Home Depot and I'm SO glad we did!! To mount the balusters, we used these connectors.

Then to cover the sides of the old porch, we used treated fence pickets and cut them to size.

Next, we sanded the rough spots and any imperfections and spent an evening staining the porch. We used Pittsburgh Paints & Stains Paramount Exterior Stain Semi-Transparent/Semi-Solid from Menards in the color Madrone and absolutely love it!!

I ordered the most beautiful set of planters from TJ Maxx for only $59.99!! I found them on other sites for over $100! So I was pumped to score these for a lot less! Just a note, these planters do not have drainage holes at the bottom, so Jason drilled a hole in the bottom of each planter with a masonry drill bit and it works like a charm!

We were also in need of a new doormat and I LOVE the look of a layered one, so I found this cute doormat at Target and layered it over this gray & bone outdoor rug. I love the black & bone one too, but it was sold out when I was looking!

As time has gone on, I've realized that less is more and my style of decor is very simple and minimal! It just feels more me that way, so that's exactly how I designed our front porch! What do you guys think?! How would you describe your personal style of decor?
