How to Discover your Design Style
There are so many different design styles and sometimes it feels overwhelming to discovery what yours is - but it doesn’t have to feel that way! Your style can be a mix of many and doesn’t need to fit into the box of the main design categories. For instance, I would describe my home style as Modern Mid-Century Traditional! That is three of the main design styles wrapped up into one cozy house I call home!
Here are some examples of mixed styles that I love:
First step in discovering your style is research the styles — The book Homebody by Joanna Gaines is a really good resource for this and you can never go wrong with searching on Pinterest!
Another way to discover your style is to think about specific pieces or renovation choices you see and LOVE! That’s your clue, run with it! I have been obsessed with cognac leather couches for as long as I can remember, so when redecorating our living room, that was my first design choice.
From there, you can add in elements and pieces that would compliment your style and space!
Another thing to take into consideration is the style and bones of your house/apartment! Sometimes the space speaks for itself in which style would compliment it best and you need to have a balance with styles. Again, use design books like Homebody to discover your style and start implementing those elements to make your house feel like home.
