Making the Most of a Small Entryway
Your entryway is the first thing people see when they walk through your door, so it feels like it basically makes the first impression of your home. I always try (key word being try! Haha.) to keep mine feeling clean, inviting, and functional!
Last summer, we gave ours a fresh update with this stunning wall paper from Magnolia Home. You can read all about that here! Here are a few tips I have on making the most of a tiny entryway!
Since your space is already limited and more things will only make it feel tighter and messier, try to keep things as organized and minimal as possible. For example, I try to only have one coat per family member hung up at a time and to always have our shoes put away in the closet.
With that in mind, always keep your in-season apparel that you are using or wearing consistently on hand in the entry, but everything else (such as snow boots, rain boots, etc.) stored away for when needed!
A pretty mirror is a must-have, to make a tiny space feel a little bit larger and of course, to check yourself on the way out the door! Haha
If possible, find a front door with bigger windows. This will automatically brighten and enlarge the space, as well!
And finally, to tie the whole space together, add in a rug! Not only do rugs protect your floors, but they add so much warmth and coziness and are relatively easy to clean! I always love a good jute rug for our entry, but for high-traffic areas, I would recommend a more durable indoor/outdoor rug option!
